In 2011 we recorded what would have been our 3rd album on a shitty tascam recorder. Unfortunately all those songs ended up getting deleted (bummer...but probably for the best, we sucked back then). So after a long hiatus we released the Tuesday EP last year, and we started demoing songs for a full length. We had about 19 songs and they were pretty cool (there was even a ska song). But then the world started to really really suck...and I don't feel anything about 2020 calls for a fucking ska song.

When we decided we wanted to write new material these songs wrote themselves, and we had all the lyrics done in 2 days. (Its really easy to write about what makes you angry these days...like super fucking easy). Everywhere you look this place is a shitshow. There's a rise of nationalism around the world, a giant deranged baby playing king of america, racist cops committing war crimes on a daily basis (I could go on but you unfortunately have to live on this planet too}. One thing is certain, THIS PLACE IS FUCKED.

At the same time we are told everything is fine, and anyone who disagrees (even slightly) is unpatriotic, and in our case unamerican. Before when I would read about time periods of fascism I would always think "Why would people follow these leaders and ideas that are so blatantly wrong?”. I’m realizing its because people are fucking stupid, and no matter how much education and intelligence you give them at their finger tips, they will choose to stay that way.

There's always this idea that during a widespread tragedy everyone comes together and creates a giant sense of community. A line that has been a staple in American political speeches over the past 19 years is that after 9/11 the country “came together as one” and “people helped one another, and there was an american flag on every porch”.

What we are dealing with now i would consider one of those moments. But unlike those events, I don’t see anything that resembles community. I see the ugly destruction of humans indulging in their animalistic instincts. Fighting over toilet paper, throwing trash all over the ground, screaming at other humans for things out of their control, and hate filled animals running around with assault rifles because ItS tHIeR rIgHtS. I also see a monster leading our country who is so fucking narcissistic it is unbelievable. So this album is about watching the world fall apart and feeling like you have no way to stop it, all you can say is THIS PLACE IS A FUCKING SHITHOLE, IT IS A FUCKING MESS, WE’RE FUCKED.
